Should I use Silicone or RubberGum?
When it comes to silicone or RubberGum, it is all down to personal preference which you would prefer to use. RubberGum is a product which Insignia has introduced to the market, with great success. It is easy to use, reliable, durable, and also incredibly neat. A novice can use RubberGum to a high standard whereas using a silicone gun is far trickier and usually, requires practice before installing a shower cabin.
RubberGum is used on the horizontal connections of the shower, with the shower panel weight pushing down, forcing out any air bubbles and creating a secure and neat seal. Silicone is still required for the vertical joints of your cabin and some installers will prefer to opt for a complete silicone seal. One reason for this is we strongly urge the silicone and RubberGum to not be mixed together across a seal. For more information on this please click here.
The majority of Insignia showers come with RubberGum as standard and is the favoured install method for most as it is incredibly easy and over half of the Insignia customer base opt to install their shower themselves as the instructions are very clear and comprehensive.
