The general answer to this question is no. No fresh holes can be drilled in the back panels for shelving or other units because it is tempered glass and will ultimately shatter into thousands of tiny pieces if this is attempted.

There are of course workarounds for this, most notably being a shelf that sticks to the inside of the panel using suction cups.
