Signature Steam Generator Cutting out When In Use
The cut-off might be caused by a high-temperature protection switch as below.
For safety, the high-temperature protection of the machine is mechanical, mechanical high-temperature protection is not as sensitive as electronic high-temperature protection devices, there will be a difference of +/-5 degrees, and our high-temperature protection device is 110 degrees. If you're finding the machine is running for a certain amount of time and then cutting off, no longer producing steam, then the heat protection device may be faulty or needs resetting.
To reset the device, first isolate all electrics and water. Now through the access panel on the end of the generator (water inlet side) open the service hatch by removing the screws and locating the overheat protection device which is located above the heating elements. In the middle of this device, there is a small square button, which once pressed you will hear it click back in. Now replace the service hatch, turn on the water and electrcis and test the machine. The reason for this overheating is that there may not be enough air circulation around the unit to keep it cool. There is a possibility the unit will do this again until the issue is addressed.
Changing the device. Should the reset button not have been activated, then there is a chance the switch may have failed. Following the steps above, you will also need to remove the side panels to gain full access to the part. Then it's a case of unscrewing the wires from the overheating device and removing the device. Install the new part, replace all the panels and test the unit.
